How to Join:
Membership is open to anyone actively interested in weaving, spinning, felting or basketry. The membership year begins in May, with half-year memberships available to those who join in the guild between January and May.
Meetings:
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month, except during July and August at the J. K. Tett Centre in Kingston.
Focus Areas:
We are a community-based organization that provides a warm, cooperative atmosphere for weavers and spinners to increase their knowledge and improve their skills. We welcome anyone involved in, or wishing to learn about, weaving and spinning and the related areas of felting, dyeing and basketmaking, as well as animal husbandry. The guild is affiliated with the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners and the Kingston Regional Arts Council.
Outreach:
The guild participates in community activities, such as sheep-to-shawl competitions and demonstrating in schools and community functions. The Annual Show and Sale, held in late October or early November is a major fund-raising activity which provides members an outlet to sell their hand-crafted items and to display to the community the breadth and scope of what we do.
